Howdy speedgolf family!

You’re reading This Week in Speedgolf. There are over 300 million newsletters in the world, but there’s only one person who crawls through the dank, smelly recesses of the internet to find you fresh speedgolf news every week.

Note: If you’re seeing this for the first time, you may have been on the playspeedgolf.com email list, which unfortunately sat collecting dust for years. That changes today! From now on, you’ll get fresh, artisanal speedgolf content in your inbox every week. If that’s not your thing anymore, there’s an unsubscribe link below.

Here’s what’s happening in speedgolf this week.

» Kyle Cokinos: 810-Hole "LDOG" Demolishes 24-Hour Record

Kyle Cokinos just doubled the bar. From 6 p.m. June 23 to 6 p.m. June 24, he looped Houston’s East River 9 90 times, completing 810 holes, 91.8 miles, on foot. He averaged 13:52 per loop, with a fastest nine of 10:50. He called it “The Longest Day of Golf”. I call it insanity to do this in Texas.

KidCoki broke the previous record (420 holes) at 5:38am, just under 12 hours into the attempt. And he just kept going. Guinness official Michael Empric certified the new record at 6:01 p.m.: “You are officially amazing…do NOT hug me.” 😂

Conditions were brutal. Heat index hit 97 °F by sunrise. Ice vests and sponge stations every 9 holes. Cokinos held pace: 322 pars, 66 birdies, a shot every 90 seconds.

The mission: raise $100,000 for Camp Aranzazu, a summer camp for kids with disabilities. At the finish, donations topped $72,000. “We’re not done until the mission’s funded,” he said.

Luke Willett’s four-club flex. The British iron-man showed up to Open Regional Qualifying at Moor Park on 24 Jun with only a 3-wood, 6-iron, wedge, and putter, firing 84 (+12) and beating 15 Open Championship hopefuls carrying full sets. The stunt lit up UK golf press and rekindled the eternal debate: “how many sticks do you really need?”

“We did it. 810 holes. 24 hours. On foot.”Kyle Cokinos, moments after finishing his 90th round and hugging his son.
