Howdy speedgolf family!

You’re reading This Week in Speedgolf. Reading this newsletter is the second best feeling in the world. The best feeling, of course, is when you stripe your drive down #1 fairway with a big crowd watching.

(By the way, this is the first edition. Let me know what you’d do differently.)

Here’s what’s happening in speedgolf this week.

Luke Bone and Luke Willett, competing as Sub 17, defended their title at the British Speedgolf Pairs Championship on May 11 at Brocket Hall’s Palmerston Course.

They finished 18 holes in 43 minutes and 49 seconds with 83 strokes, earning a Speedgolf Score of 126.49. The field included several PGA professionals on a challenging 9 km layout.

“Defending a title in Speedgolf demands perfect synergy; the Palmerston rewards that,” said Bone.

Pam Painter of British Speedgolf added, “PGA Pros are the backbone of the game, and we’re thrilled to see them embracing this athletic, fast-paced format.”

Nothing says “embracing” like gasping for breath after lipping out a 3-footer.

It’s like the Swiss Army knife of golf clubs, minus the tiny scissors and corkscrew (though that corkscrew might come in handy if you’re playing the French Open). In Indiana, Gary Sobczak and Nick Evans—both Q-users—won their divisions. Jason Hawkins reportedly rolled his eyes. More on Q Golf
