Speedgolf storms the DP World Tour — On 25 May 2025, the Soudal Open broadcast cut to a familiar sight (at least for our readers). Belgian pros Olivier Guisset, Axel De Smet, and Sasha Deferm splattered their way through the rain, playing three holes at Rinkven GC in 11 minutes, cheered on by ~5,000 soaking wet fans. Does this mean a traditional golf audience is ready for more speedgolf? (Soudal Open on Instagram) (Speedgolf Belgium on Instagram)
» Results Round-Up
Missouri Speedgolf Open – May 31–Jun 1 (Springfield, USA) (results)
- Open: Jason Hawkins — 155 / 85:26 = 240.26
- Masters: John Darrow — 164 / 111:26 = 275.26
- Seniors 60+: Gary Sobczak — 162 / 108:53 = 270.53
- 18-Hole: Jules De Coster — 86 / 84:03 = 170.03
- 9-Hole: Kenzie Baker — 49 / 35:00 = 84.00
Great to see Jason Hawkins returning to competition after sitting out the World Championships. Gatjeak Gew shot 72 in 48 minutes to claim the low round on day 2. And in the 9-hole division we saw a preview of the US Open in 15 years: Eliott Dawley defeated Knox Hawkins by 4 strokes (Both played 9 holes in 34 minutes and change).
Iga Open – May 5 (Iga, Japan) (results)
- Men: Masahiko Maeba — 84 / 62:46 = 146.46
- Seniors: Yasuki Ogawa — 81 / 62:00 = 143.00
- Women: Hibiki Masuda — 126 / 86:42 = 212.42
Yasuki Ogawa now has back-to-back wins in the Senior division to kick off the early phase of the Japanese tour. I also saw that Speedgolf World Champion Jin Ota returned to the Japanese tour in April, handily winning the Ibaraki Open with a 77 in 46 minutes. Japanese tour resumes play in September at the Hokkaido Open.
South Swedish Classic – May 17–18 (Bokskogen GC, SWE)- Overall Gross: Carl Palmberg — 105.5 / 68:46 = 174.36
- Overall Net: Mats Åkesson — 121.5 / 79:42 = 168.32
- Best-Two-Nines: Mikael Palmberg — 28.5 / 27:16 = 56.06
- Single Nine: Carl Palmberg — 36 / 21:38 = 57.38
- Eclectic (2×9): Johan Larsson & Markus Rytterkull — 46 / 23:54 = 58.10
I asked Mikael Palmberg to add a little flavor here. He said: It has a great, creative format that allows players from different levels to compete. Only nine holes at a stretch, but 54 holes in 15 hours for those who want a challenge.
Really cosy and an event that will grow over time.
Hyvinkää Speedgolf – Jun 3 (Hyvigolf, FIN)- The Finns play fast, but they don’t always upload results fast. Check back next week!
