How to play your first nine-hole speedgolf round

Pick a quiet nine-hole window, carry three to five clubs, time yourself from first shot to final putt, and treat the first round as a learning loop rather than a race.
  1. 1

    Choose a quiet tee time

Avoid crowded windows so you can move continuously without pressuring other groups.

  2. 2

    Pack three to five clubs

Use a simple set that covers tee shots, approaches, wedges, and putting.

  3. 3

Start the clock on the first shot

Record elapsed time when the final putt drops, then add strokes plus minutes.

Your first speedgolf round should feel a little awkward. That is normal. You are learning a different decision rhythm.

The most useful post-round note is not the score. It is where you wasted time: extra clubs, indecision, searching, or running too hard before a difficult shot.
